Cathy Cornett, Principal
Mrs. Cornett has been the principal of St. Mark Catholic School since 2012. Mrs. Cornett graduated from Berea College with a Bachelor's in French Education and from the University of Tennessee with a Master's Curriculum and Instruction. Originally from Oak Ridge, TN., Mrs. Cornett is a passionate advocate for the children in her care. In addition to her responsibilites as principal, she also enjoys teaches religion class and leading morning prayer service.
Shapell Guest, Preschool Director
Ms. Guest graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a degree in Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education and a minor in Special Education. This will be her third year teaching and her second year as the Preschool Director at St. Mark. Ms. Guest believes that a well-managed and caring environment promotes a safe place, where students cultivate learning through hands on experiences.
Hannah Adams, Transitional Kindergarten
A 2010 graduate of Georgetown College with a degree in elementary education and a minor in social sciences, Mrs. Adams is currently working on a master’s degree from the University of the Cumberlands in school counseling. She has worked in both public and private schools as a classroom teacher, curriculum developer and RTI interventionist and coming to St. Mark, which is by far her favorite place to be.
Beth Gannon, Kindergarten
Mrs. Gannon is originally from Campbellsville, KY., attending both Campbellsville University and the University of Kentucky. She is also a graduate of Gardner-Webb University, NC. Mrs. Gannon has six years combined teaching experience in three states. Her teaching philosophy is to “teach to the whole brain." She has been described by her students as “crazy Mrs. Gannon” because of her animation and enthusiasm in teaching a lesson.
Claire Jennings, First & Second Grades
Mrs. Jennings graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a B.S. in Elementary Education in 2011 and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Learning and Behavior Disorders from Georgetown College. She has taught for the past four years for the Fayette County public school system, and is excited to share her passion for student success with the families of St. Mark School.
Lisa Couch, Third, Fourth, Fifth Grades
Mrs. Couch has called Richmond home since 2006. She graduated with a bachelor's degree from Eastern Kentucky University, and is currently pursuing her Master's of Arts in Teaching for Elementary Education through the University of the Cumberlands.
Sandy Sullivan, Art/School Secretary
Mrs. Sullivan has been the secretary at St. Mark Catholic School since 2009. She also teaches art for Pre-K to Fifth grade students. She is a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Jewelry and Metalsmithing and a Minor in Painting. Mrs. Sullivan is a member of St. Mark Catholic Church and both of her children attended St. Mark School. She feels blessed to have been and to continue to be part of the St. Mark family.
